Chitwan National Park

chitwan national park

A trip to Chitwan National Park in central Nepal promises you of a revitalizing experience as the wild and natural environment of the UNESCO World Heritage Site helps in soothing the everyday stress that you have to go through in the busy cities.Whether it is jungle safari, elephant riding or boating in lakes with ghariyals, the daredevil adventures will leave you absolutely satisfied at the end of the day when you can take respite in the peaceful environment of the lodges that offer excellent hospitality services deep inside the wild jungles.
You can also enjoy elephant bath, canoeing, guided jungle walk, Terai culture, wildlife breeding projects and 4 wheel-drive safaris. The best time to visit the park is during the spring and the cool winter as the park lies in the hot tropical monsoon climate belt with relatively high humidity. It is just four to five hours drive from the capital, Kathmandu. Flights to the nearest airports in Bharatpur and Meghauli are also available at affordable prices.
Sighting the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers and the one-horned rhinoceros won’t be much of a problem as the 932 sq. km of the protected area boasts of 198 such wild cats and 645 rhinos, according to the latest government survey.Besides protecting the endangered animals, Chitwan National Park is also home to more than 68 species of mammals, including gaur, wild elephant, four horned antelope, striped hyena, pangolin, monitor lizard and python. Another chief attraction of the national park is the endangered Gangetic dolphin, which is hardly found anywhere in the country except the Royal Bardiya National Park almost 500 kilometers west of Chitwan.
